@Farhan Shaheen – It is true that the beauty lies in the original language but, in todays time, can you really afford to learn Urdu, Hindi, Latin, Sanskrit, French, German and whatnot, if you have to just go through the poetry and prose in those languages. No, you don’t.
Transliteration is just fine.

welcome to my humble blog 🙂 .. both the points are valid .. through transliteration you dont have to learn to read the ‘script’ of the language … but still you have to gain considerable “understanding” of the language itself to fully understand the prose of that language 🙂
@kovid well its only in one language either written in urdu
or english. Its still urdu so if you can read urdu in english then obviously you know urdu and should know urdu to be read in urdu.
